Here's the kitchen. Those tile counters are not exactly my kind of thing, but since they are original to the house, they'll stay. Plus, they kind of grow on you. Certainly cheerier than granite. (Regular readers know well my opinion of glamour kitchens.

The house didn't have a dishwasher so we had to do some pretty hardcore demo to squeeze it in there. The kitchen floor you see was covered by a press-on floor from the 70's that we pulled up over several days.

I love this little wall phone and kitchen stool. I have almost weaned myself off of the caller ID habit. I just pick up the phone! Dialing is sort of fun, although a long distance number can wear you out.

And here's the little breakfast nook in the kitchen. Where all those knick-knacks are was originally a blank wall, but we opened it up so that the alley could be seen, and to get some more light in the kitchen. The booth was a score from Craigslist, and the table has a fun pink boomerang pattern.

Here's the Frigidaire double wall oven. It was salvaged from a tasteful home that was being demolished, and works like a dream. It needs to be built-in, but that's life during the depression for you.

And here's a vintage Thermador cooktop, in an action photo from Thanksgiving. I love me a good Thermador cooktop

But that's not all! Click here to see pictures of "The Lodge" (which has the most FABULOUS knotty pine panelling!)
